One sabbath he was going through the grainfields; and as they made their way his disciples began to pluck heads of grain. And the Pharisees said to him, "Look, why are they doing what is not lawful on the sabbath?"
And he said to them, "Have you never read what David did, when he was in need and was hungry, he and those who were with him: how he entered the house of God, when Abi'athar was high priest, and ate the bread of the Presence, which it is not lawful for any but the priests to eat, and also gave it to those who were with him?"
And he said to them, "The sabbath was made for man, not man for the sabbath; so the Son of man is lord even of the sabbath" (Mark 2: 23 - 28).
Reflection
Do you work during Sundays?
All days were made for us by God and through Jesus, He provides for our daily needs. He gives us the freedom to choose on how we want to spend our days. As followers of Jesus, we must at all times be with Him who is the Lord of all. Each day must be spent to give glory and praises to the Father who works for good to those who love Him. Whether you are at work, at play, or at rest on any single day, always make it a habit to pray.
Prayer
Father in heaven, thank you so much for giving me another brand new day. It is like a blank sheet of paper in my diary, pure and white, waiting to be filled with all the good things that you will do for me today. The pen in my hand is Jesus who is the Lord of all my days and the ink that comes out from the pen are your graces, blessings, healing and miracles. With joyful hope and expectation for a very fruitful and productive day, I work under your grace for the praise and glory of your Name through Jesus Christ in whom all good things come!
